We like to think we’re a social bunch here at GoldSand Digital. Every quarter, the whole team participates in a work social, which has included go-karting, bowling, crazy golf, social darts, sports day, a GSD pub crawl, Christmas lunch, and much more.
Of course, that doesn’t include the weekly after-work drinks, welcome/leaving lunches, office table tennis tournaments, and much more. But what is the point of all this socialising, apart from the opportunity to get out of the office?

In the modern world that we now live in, job satisfaction is hugely important. Online recruitment tools such as LinkedIn, Indeed, Reed and Monster to name a few have resulted in access to far more opportunities, and a new role is often just a click away.
Keeping your team motivated is now crucial to retaining your best employees, and social events go a long way in doing this. Not only is it something for employees to look forward to, but it also shows that hard work recognised and rewarded.

Social events also offer employees the opportunity to bond with each other away from the four walls of the office. It is also too common to only know the team you work with; such events enable employees to share interests and generate friendships.
For potential employees looking into a company, it can also make all the difference. Work is obviously the number one facet to any role, but social events offer a clear indication into the culture and work ethic of an organisation.

While hosting such events can be a costly expense, in terms of happiness of employees, team-building, and work/life balance, they are priceless.
We’re always on the look out for brilliant people, so if that’s you then drop us a note saying why to info@goldsanddigital.com.
