Ford, Google and virtual reality studio Happy Finish have teamed up to produce a virtual reality driver education app, which brings to life the potentially fatal consequences of driving while distracted.
The app casts you as a driver picking up friends on the way to a party, with instant messages, phone calls and passengers all sparking a series of near-misses. A final, fatal consequence, highlighting the dangers for teens of fear of missing out (FOMO).
In initial results, 90% of those who used the app in initial tests would change their driving behaviour from seeing this.
