Samsung did not willfully infringe on Apple’s design and utility patents, as was ruled by a federal judge on Tuesday in Apple’s claim for bonus damages.
It was reinstated, however, that Samsung had violated Apple’s intellectual property in as many as seven patents, including product design and essential interface elements.
The case began a year ago, and in August Apple was awarded $1.05 billion. The number may have tripled if not for yesterday’s ruling.
