Having a “common, open method of evaluating the efficacy of [automated driving] technology” is essential for automotive manufacturers to remain responsible, according to advanced driver-assistance system developer, Mobileye.
Amnon Shashua, the firm’s CEO has put forward the Responsibility Sensitive Safety model in order to help prove the safety of autonomous vehicles.
Shashua added that all the rules and regulations today are framed around the idea of a driver in control of the car and that new parameters are needed for autonomous vehicles.
