Sir James Dyson is investing £2bn (according to The Economist) into electric vehicles and solid state battery development.

Although known to most for his inventive vacuum cleaner products, Dyson appeared on Blue Peter in 1993 to show the Dyson teams prototype cyclonic filter that could be fitted on a vehicle’s exhaust system to trap particles. This project later closed due to lack of interest

Dyson plan to move into the automotive world with a ‘radical’ electric car, due to launch in 2020 with the team working secretly in its Wiltshire headquarters for the past two years.
